GRATITUDE PRACTICE JOURNAL

For years, I believed that success was the answer to fulfillment. I chased it relentlessly, but when I finally achieved what others would call the American Dream, something was still missing. No amount of money, freedom, or opportunity could fill the holes in my heart. Gratitude is more than just a word—it’s a practice that can shift your entire life. When we focus on what we’re grateful for, we change our outlook, soften our hearts, and start to see the world through a positive lens. It rewires our minds, allowing us to experience more joy, peace, and love.

That’s why I’ve created this journal.
I never thought about the concept of “practicing gratitude” until I met Deepak Chopra in the fall of 2022. During his lecture, he spoke about how the power of gratitude can transform your life in a myriad of ways. At the time, I was recovering from a breakup and struggling with the four soul questions: Who am I? What do I want? How can I be of service? What is my dharma (purpose)?

I was at a low point, seeking answers on how to direct my life toward positivity. In a world that often tells us it’s selfish to put ourselves first, this journal is an opportunity to be selfless by focusing on self-care. The saying “what goes up must come down” applied to my situation—I was at rock bottom. Gratitude became a building block on my path to happiness. It showed me that the more I focused on what I did have and asked for what I wanted, the more those desires would come true. People in my life kept saying, you seem so different, you mean happy. 🙂

My heart began to soften and so did my responses. I never realized that my thoughts and actions drove the outcome of my life. Gratitude improved my sleep by helping me let go of the day’s events. It also impacted my dreams, creating positive thoughts in my mind overnight.

By spending just five minutes each morning and night, you can change your life. Think of it as a daily workout for the mind. This practice is your opportunity to invest in yourself, build a habit of self-care, and create a foundation for growth. You’ll go from focusing on what’s missing to appreciating what’s already here.
