What this practice does in real life

What this practice does in real life

I want to tell you about Paul. He came to me at 50 years old — on two antidepressants, nervous system completely overwhelmed, feeling like he’d tried everything and nothing had moved the needle. He was skeptical. That’s fine. Skeptical is fine.

In three months of consistent meditation practice, Paul was completely off both medications. He describes what happened the same way almost everyone does: the inner noise got quieter. And the life he actually wanted started to feel possible.

Paul now works at a mental health organization. The cycle continues. That’s what this work does — it doesn’t stay with one person. It ripples.

How this practice came into my life

My nervous system was fried. I was quick to react and slow to recover. I was the kind of person who could walk into a room and feel everything in it — every tension, every unspoken thing — and carry all of it home with me. I didn’t know how to stop.
When I found meditation, I didn’t find peace on the first day. Or the tenth. I’ll be honest — the first few times I sat down to meditate, I lasted about four minutes before my brain found something more urgent to think about. I’m laughing about it now. It wasn’t funny then.

But somewhere around thirty days in — same time, same practice, no exceptions — something shifted. I started to slow down before I reacted. I started to notice the space between what happened and how I responded. That space was everything.

The decisions I’d been putting off for years started to get easier. Not because my life changed — because I changed. That is what I am going to teach you. Not a technique. A practice. And a different relationship with your own mind.

How this practice came into my life

One-on-One Sessions

Some things can’t be figured out in a group. Some parts of you need a quiet room, one honest conversation, and someone who will actually listen — not just wait for their turn to speak.

My one-to-one sessions are built around where you are right now. Not where you think you should be. We start with what’s actually going on in your body and your mind, and I teach you — in real time — how to work with it instead of against it.

Small Group Classes

There is something that happens when you sit in a room with other people who are doing the same vulnerable thing — who have chosen, like you, to slow down and look inward. The walls come down faster. The silence feels safer. You realize you are not alone in this.

My small group classes are intentionally kept intimate — never more than a handful of people — so that the energy stays close and the experience stays real. These are not performances. They are practices. We breathe together, we sit together, and we learn together what it feels like to finally stop running from our own minds.

Retreats

Some healing can’t happen between meetings or on a lunch break. Some parts of you need more than an hour — they need space, nature, and a room full of people who have shown up for exactly the same vulnerable reason.

These retreats are designed to take everything you’ve been practicing and let it land — in your body, in community, in real lived experience. Whether it’s a weekend immersive in Southern Florida or seven nights on the Costa Rican coast, these are not vacations. They are returns. To yourself, to quiet, to the clarity that’s been waiting underneath all the noise.

Come wherever you are. No experience required — only willingness.

All the answers you are looking for are already inside you.

Most of our lives, we’ve been asking other people what to do. What’s the right move. What’s the right feeling. What’s the right way to be.

I teach people to stop asking outward and start listening inward. Four questions I come back to every single day — and the ones I’ll eventually ask you:

Who am I? What do I want? What is my purpose? What am I grateful for?

You don’t need someone to answer those for you. You need someone to teach you how to sit still long enough to hear the answers that are already there. That is what this practice does. That is what I am here for.

All the answers you are looking for are already inside you.

I’m someone who found his way through, and I’ve stayed close to this practice every single day since. I’m here because I don’t want you to wait as long as I did.

The door was always unlocked. Let’s go through it together.

Paul Conklin
"Through his teaching and his work — reading his book, his gratitude journal, teaching me meditation — all of those things together have given me so much peace, especially to my nervous system."
